Changing concept of teaching learning resources

Hi, everyone! welcome to my first blog post. My name is Rahul Yadav and I am the current B.Ed. student in School of Education, Lovely professional university. In this blog I will be sharing my ideas on changing concept of teaching learning resources.

A must change for learning:-

Traditionally teachers hold the responsibility of instructions of learning but now even learner should shares the responsibility of instructions of learning, by that i wanted to say only teachers will not decide what to teach and how to teach it is also depending on students how they will learn. 

If a teacher wanted to start a new lesson or chapter he should ask his students about the prior knowledge related to that topic and then accordingly he/she should decide the instruction plan or we can say the way of teaching. For example if a student does not know the the basic knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division how he can proceed with equations. So teacher has to decide that if students wants an hour extra on the basics, teacher should give that hour to them. This is very much required in learning process otherwise they will not like the particular subject and start hating it and for entire life the student will try to run away from that subject instead of learning. So now it is all on the teachers that how they make their student to learn effectively so that they gain interest in what they learn.

Way back to my school days:-

when i was 11 year old i had been sent to a boarding school. it was founded in 1945 that is before independence. it was a defence school so all my classmates were from different states, religion and culture. So basically we bunch of more than 100 classmates had varied background, traditional knowledge, practices, rituals, values in us. I myself was from rural background and more of a student who only focuses on curriculum based teaching. i was very weak on my communication part. But the beauty of peer learning is as such that each one has something that can be shared with other. on one side where i improved on my weaknesses by taking help from my peers but on other side i myself had got the opportunities to help my classmates in several aspects. As example all those who were from urban background does not the basic knowledge of crops, answer of question related to how different crops plant grow, some grows beneath the ground, some have long stems, some plants spreads on ground, seasons that prefer different crops and many more. we celebrated all the festivals in school and teachers and mates was the family for us. it may be any festival be it diwali, holi, eid or christmas we celebrated together and it is same with me till today.
So i feel everything can not be taught in school or by teachers. what we can learn from our peers is way beyond by what we can learn though our curriculum based education in which teacher tells everything.

both of the experiences which i have discussed takes me to a very important topic that is

Learner as a Resource:-

When we talk about teaching learning resources the first thing that comes to our mind is the teaching aids that supports learning. But i am focusing on learner as a resource.

• In first para where i discussed the must change required in our approach towards teaching, there leaner acts as a learning resource because the teacher takes help of a student for deciding the way of teaching. 
• The teaching resource is something that make learning easy and which stimulates the interest of learner and learner as a resource fulfils all those requirement.
• In second para where i discussed about learners learn together and they learn from each other. learners are full of experience and they are little scientists of our nation. Unity in our diversity can not be taught effectively in the class by teacher, it comes with belongingness among peers of varied diversity.
• They teach their peers and behaves as learner as a resource.                                        

In coming blogs i will be discussing on other aspects of this topic that is importance and effective use of these teaching resources. Till then STAY TUNED AND BE SAFE.
