Learning through play
There will always be a huge gap between the things that teachers want to impart to their student and the things that students want to know from them.
The connection that will let the two meet is the relevance of the lesson with the students lives. Engaging activities that stimulate active learning is proven to be the best method teachers use to provide a long term understanding.
Here are some benefits of using these resources in teaching:-
1. Concept application:- Applying the idea that the students learned in school to a real situation is the best outcome their learning could achieve. Student can acquire an open mind this skill outside of school that will provide them with a better outlook on life.
For example:-
- If we are teaching torque to a student we should engage him with what is his/her previous knowledge. So we should pick some teaching resources that will help learner to apply that concept in the real life.
Why not to ask a question to students that what is the difference in opening a gate under two condition (a) while they apply force from a far distance from hinges (b) and when try to open from applying force very near to the hinges.
Now the students will answer according to what they have experienced in their real life. After this teacher can fine tune the thinking of student and can introduce the scientific terms. By this way they are constructing their own knowledge and also with these social engagement they will apply the same topic when so ever they will see that phenomenon in there upcoming life.
2. Easiest to learn:- By making the content of the lesson more relevant and engaging, the student will find learning relax and simple. Flashy presentation, humour and games can attract the learner and can make learning interesting.
For example:-
- Why not to make Newton third law as a game in the class so that learner get engaged in the activities and and can take some interest in learning.
In a tug-of-war game, the winning team is not always the team that has the strongest, largest, or most massive team members. The winning team is usually the one that has the best traction against the ground. The forces exerted by each team pulling on the rope are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.
3. Fun learning:- Students often look forwards to teachers who can produce some fun in learning. By providing a realistic experience to them in classrooms they can acquire knowledge in a better way.
For example:-
- Majority of students finds history boring so what can be done is they can ask them to do role plays of different freedom fighters and ask all of them to present their skits in the classrooms, all of them hence be motivated also because everyone is working and all of them will see others also and that they can learn the importance of freedom fighters and learn there famous slogans easily because those will be delivered by none other than there friends. These type of things makes learning as a fun activity.
4. Increases motivation:- At last if everything which is been taught to learner's in the class through different learning resources by teachers is been thoroughly understood by them, makes them motivated to learn new things. They will never be afraid to learn something new. And at last this the only thing which teacher wants to implant in the learners that should be eager to learn anything new.
